SIsters Preserves
Rescuing Food. Creating Community. Supporting Women and Girls.
It All Starts With Food Rescue
Each week, dedicated members of Soroptimist International of Victoria Westshore collect rescued produce from the Mustard Seed Food Bank’s Food Share Network in Victoria, B.C.
Through this network, surplus fruits and vegetables are recovered from more than 30 local grocery stores and farm partners—fresh food that would otherwise go to waste.
Volunteer Canning
Our SIsters Preserves team carefully selects the items best suited for preserving and transforms them into small-batch canned goods.
Using traditional techniques, the team creates an incredible variety of homemade products, including jams, jellies, chutneys, pickles, and preserved vegetables.
Working year-round, this dedicated volunteer team produces more than 70 unique varieties of preserves.
From Rescued Food
to Community Markets
From May through December, SIsters Preserves products are offered by donation at more than 30 markets and community events across the Victoria and Westshore region.
Every jar tells a story:
Food rescued from local farms and grocers
Volunteers working together in the community
Funds raised to support women and girls.

Our Impact
In 2025 alone, SIsters Preserves raised more than $17,000 to support Soroptimist International of Victoria Westshore programs that improve the lives of women and girls in our community.
Supporting Food Security
SIsters Preserves is one part of Soroptimist Victoria Westshore’s broader commitment to food security in our community—ensuring good food is shared rather than wasted, while creating meaningful volunteer opportunities and generating funding for programs that empower women and girls.
